Double Roasters | Marrickville

Us going to Double Roasters in Marrickville was more incidental than by choice but we were driving down and saw this neat looking building – dark colours with bright fluro letters – and it just seemed like it could be cool. Dropped in on a friday arvo and somehow (day off), it just felt like a lazy weekender. I sat here a bit while my mate was parking and they were friendly and accomodating.

The fitout of the space is great. Its industrially – it is a coffee roastery first and foremost and its nicely put together. Kind of melbourney if you get the drift. Bunch of cluey locals here. They put the signage on a pair of stepladders and rather appropriate.

sunflowers, exposed insulation, big beams, vintage furniture. Its all rather nice.

This is a great cafe.

mushroom on toast. Good. $8.50

double smoked bacon, poached egg and toast. Decent. Plate was missing a tomato imo. $8.50

Funnily, we didn’t get pics of the coffee but it was great. I had two cups here. Had a smokey flavour so it didn’t taste like most blends you get out around. Had a chat with the owner about his joint and he was quite proud of it, as he should be. I wish more places were like this. If I got a pushie, I’ll cycle up here more often.
